The Midnight Walk Keyart - Process Post

Hiya!
We recently released our game "The Midnight Walk" and oh boy has it been a journey creating this game out of clay and paper!
This post is sort of the step by step process of how I created the Keyart - Nothing fancy really, but I thought it might be fun to see all the different ideas that we went throught!

Our foundational concept was to have this as an traditionally painted illustration, to emphazise our general hand-made process. Further down the line Klaus and I did have a change of hearts and decided to go for a shot created with our clay-sculptures to fully show our craftsmanship.
So, all those characters, props and papers bits are things that we built by hand for the game and for this lil' shot, rendered and posed in Blender. It was a first for me working in Blender and in digital 3D so it really put me to the test haha...My initial idea tho, when we had decided on this particular shot, was to build the whole thing physically in a box and film it but yeah, didn't have the time - would have needed to make new sculptures of the characters and do some complicated lightsystems etc...Would've been fun to have tho but who cares! In the end it turned out to be the most mixed-media thing I've ever done and it prouds me to have been able to create this, especially considering the time constraints and my lack of knowledge.

Would like to thank Kenneth for all the support throughout this process, the guy who made the visuals for our trailers - https://www.artstation.com/kenneth_bakkelund

Time-stamped video to show the whole video sequence that I created! I wish I could show you how wierd this scene looks but my computer here at home can't handle the blender-file.

First couple of sketches for the keyart.

Some colorsketches with a placeholder logo. Really enjoy these ones, sort of a comic-style seeping throught here.
